It happened in January 12 through the 13, 1888 to the upper Midwest. The states were South Dakota,North Dakota, Nebraska,Minnesota, Montana,Wyoming,and Idaho.
The Dakotas' and Nebraska were the ones that got hit the worst. Nebraska got hit so bad without any warning.The whole Great Plains got hit.
The storm lasted from 12 to 18 hours. Temperatures as low as 40 below zero. Only people that could have been prepared would have survived.

Is the temp like a record temp for America? I wonder why it got that cold. It's probably because there were a lot less fossil fuels burned back then. probably none.
