Did they know a blizzard was coming?

No most people didn't know a storm was coming. It was said to be a beautiful 70 degree day. Nobody really knows if the technology was advanced enough to show that a storm was coming.
It was said to be one of the worst blizzards since 1864. Dakota went to 40 below zero in less than a 24 hours. The winds are what made it hard for people especially the girls and women to walk.
School was resumed a week later. That blizzard made people worried about the safety of their kids so they didn't send their children to school. The Children's Blizzard made a big impact on that area.

  1. Hi Angelica! Wow, I had no idea that this was so major! Like you said, no one even saw it coming! Most meteorologist say that it was the most rare storm of all time, just because you couldn't tell that it was there!
On this day, it had started to rain out of no where, and the temperatures imediately started to drop consistantly! Then mostly everyone knew that something was up, but not a blizzard! Shortly after that, sure enough the blizzard came and blew everyones mind!
Thanks for all the interesting facts, I learned more than I knew!

  2. So, like you said above, it was a perfect day outside, and then out of nowhere, BAM! BLIZZARD! I guess Mother Nature was having a hissy fit that day... This is such a chilly subject. No pun intended.
Above, you said it was in "Dakota." Is that North, South, or even a city... Well, anyways, they didn't have the fancy-smancy radars and lasers and rays that we have today, so there was no possible way for them to know. Also, the biggest possibility was that it could have been a El Nino or Nina year. That would've caused it!
I personnaly think that the heavy snowfall and winds made it hard for just the girls and women to walk, but for everybody caught in the freak blizzard. Just think, living miles away from your house and having to WALK there in a blizzard. I hate to say it, but that's one of the main reasons while survival rates were so low...
